May Memory

HOW’S YOUR MEMORY?

Memories are only formed through knowledge.  An event has t o take place before it can be remembered.  A word has to be spoken before it can be quoted from memory.  A thought must be formed prior to it being put in one’s remembrance.

Knowledge is a prerequisite to retaining a mental impression.  We can never have the capacity to retain or revive facts of an event or impression of which we have no knowledge.  In short, you have to know something to be able to remember it.  Your knowledge may be 1st hand, 2nd hand, or further down the line.  But unless you first know, it is impossible to remember.

Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus, wrote to awaken the minds of those who would hear. (2 Peter 3:1)  He wrote to give his hearers knowledge.  Knowledge led the hearers to be able to remember.  As we today read, study, and come to know the truth Peter declared in his 1st and 2nd Epistles (and all the Bible), we are encountering knowledge.  It is this knowledge that causes our minds to be awakened.  It is this knowledge that enables our memory.  We are able to remember the greatness of our God and His mighty deeds because we have knowledge of Him and them.

There are multiple places in scripture we are exhorted to remember God and His ways.  John 14:26 says the Holy Spirit was sent to help us keep in remembrance all the sayings of Jesus.  We are not alone in this memory endeavor.  God has provided a Remembrance Helper!

Be exhorted today to get a good knowledge of God through the continual reading and studying of His Word.  Know God’s acts and dealings with man.  Let the Word enable you to know God and stand in awe of His greatness.  Knowledge of God will lead to a life of great memory.  Your spiritual mind will be awakened and aroused.  Keep God and His ways always in your remembrance.  Have a fear of God through knowledge of His holiness.  The remembrance and Fear of the Lord will bring life to your body and health to your bones.

So how’s your memory?  Start knowing today and your memory will improve!
