February Fragrance

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

(2 Corinthians 2:14-17)

How does Jesus Christ smell to you?  How about in you?  How about how do you smell to Him?  We as His captive followers are being led along His victory procession.  We smell the aroma of His sacrificial death and burial.  We are filled with the fresh scent of His Endless Life.  To us who are being saved the fragrance is delightful.  It displays Christ’s faithfulness.  It creates a response of devotion.  It promotes useful service.

The Knowledge of Christ Jesus’ faithfulness to conquer death, Hell, and the grave prompted this triumphal procession we are involved in.  We are following after our King of kings and Lord of lords.  We are allowing the scents of His obedience and humility to sink deep into our hearts and minds.  As we follow after Jesus as part of His redeemed possession let us perceive Him with a sweet aroma.  Let our hearts be filled with thoughts of thankfulness.

Does the aroma of Christ bring you to a more whole-hearted devotion and allegiance to your conquering Savior?  Are your eyes fixed with awe on your King and Lord?  As you are being led on this walk of faith let the cares of this world grow more and more unimportant as you cherish the Savior’s scent.

Christ’s fragrance on us and in us promotes useful service to our Lord.  We display Christ to others by our love to and for others.  The scent of Christ permeates us as His followers.  The scent is so filling that it allows others to be filled with the knowledge of God.

Let us as Christ’s faithful followers in His triumphant procession always carry forth the scent of Christ’s faithfulness.  Let’s respond to His Lordship with whole-hearted devotion . . . being filled with all of His sweetness.  Let there be service unto the Lord with singleness of heart and mind so that others will smell God in us and gain knowledge of the Holy One.

God always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus.  May God enable us to manifest the knowledge of God to others as we allow Him to permeate us.
